But I want to share something important with you: after 15 years in health and wellness, seeing nutrition and exercise trends come and go, it hit me like a ton of bricks—
Hardly anyone was getting lasting results from anything my industry was creating or my colleagues were recommending.
Women were crashing and burning, again and again—doing “everything right,” yet still feeling like they were falling apart. And they were blaming themselves.
And I realized something that changed everything: the temporary (or nonexistent) results, the low energy, the disregulated cortisol, and that "fried AF feeling" were not due to a lack of “willpower” or “discipline.”
The root of the problem was stress, and it was coming in forms we've never talked about.
And we can't out-macro, out-fitness, or out-bath it.
In fact, it's those very things that got us into this mess.
For the longest time, I actually HATED this answer. I made fun of the "stress narrative."
Let me tell you about the moment I finally understood what was really going on.

A dear, health-savvy friend and I sat down for lunch, and after exchanging hugs and so-good-to-see-yous, one of us asked the other “how are you?”
I remember clearly, just staring at each other, speechless for a moment.
One of us—I don’t remember which—said it first.
“I’m just…fried.”
We didn’t have to say another word. We just understood: our stress was winning (and somehow, it had just gotten worse since we turned 40). Worse yet: everything else seemed to be going down with the ship.
That conversation haunted me. Because if we—with all our knowledge and resources—felt this way, what about everyone else?
If my friend, who was “doing everything right,” was still struggling, what hope did anyone else have?
I had already started looking at metabolism and energy through the lens of STRESS, but this really locked it in for me.
I realized that energy, cortisol, and the nervous system were tied to each other…by stress.
Of course, I’d heard the narrative that “stress is blocking your results” before, and I HATED it.
Why? Because nobody ever offered real solutions. You know the drill:

Didn't think so.

The stress system is an incredibly complex, constantly-running operating system that we cannot think (or bathe) our way out of.
Stress isn't just mental or physical. It's physiological, neuroendocrine, neurological, and somatic—woven through every system in your body.
